Using Dynamic Assessment with children who have significant language and communication challenges (online training)
£180.00
In this workshop, delivered jointly by Dr Fraser Lauchlan and Dr Kirstie Rees (author of "The Mental Health and Wellbeing of Children and Young People with Learning Difficulties") we will consider some of the practical considerations required when working with children who have significant learning challenges, including those who have receptive and expressive language differences. Through the use of case study and discussion, there will be consideration of the internal and external factors which impact upon a child or young person’s engagement, and how the use of DA can assist in understanding and promoting the use of effective learning strategies for this group of children and young people. The session will balance psychological theory and research with practical, evidence-based strategies and resources which EPs can use in their practice and support educational colleagues to apply in a busy school context. The training is underpinned by a strong relationship-based approach and explores ways of obtaining an in-depth knowledge of a child and their strengths and needs. The course will next take place on Tuesday 4th November 2025 from 9.30am to 4.00pm. The course fee does NOT include copies of the two textbooks discussed in the training "Applying Dynamic Assessment in Schools" (by Fraser Lauchlan and Clare Daly) and "The Mental Health and Wellbeing of Children and Young People with Learning Difficulties" (by Dr Kirstie Rees), however, at the time of booking your place, a 10% discount voucher will be offered to all participants.
