BPS APPROVED TRAINING IN DYNAMIC ASSESSMENT AND MEDIATED LEARNING

Welcome to the home page of Dynamic Assessment UK.

This website is dedicated to the development and growth of dynamic assessment and intervention work. Mediated learning strategies are used by educational psychologists, speech therapists, teachers, teaching assistants, parents and all related professionals.

Our training has been approved by the British Psychological Society. All training and related work that leads to the award of a certificate in Dynamic Assessment competence, qualifies as part of your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training.

There are three levels of Dynamic Assessment and Intervention competence:

  • Level 1 for those with no previous experience of dynamic assessment and mediated learning.

  • Level 2 for those with some experience of dynamic assessment who are using it (or intend to use it) in their daily practice.

  • Level 3 is for advanced dynamic assessment users who are able to combine the use of dynamic assessment with digital feedback.

Although our services are based in the UK, they are available to professionals globally.

ASSESSING 21ST CENTURY CHILDREN, USING 21ST CENTURY TECHNIQUES

The way learners learn has changed dramatically over the past decade, and even more so in the past year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Online platforms, virtual lessons and Google meets have become the norm, however, children and young people are still being assessed by the same traditional methods which take little or no account of their newfound skills and potential. Let’s rethink learning and be the force that stimulates change within the education system. Let’s be dynamic.

WHAT DOES THE TRAINING IN DYNAMIC ASSESSMENT AND MEDIATED LEARNING LOOK TO ACHIEVE?

Dynamic Assessment is an interactive assessment and intervention process. It helps those working with learners to identify constructs that:

THE LEARNER HAS ALREADY MASTERED

The Zone of Actual Development

THE LEARNER IS CURRENTLY TRYING TO UNDERSTAND

Including tasks they can do with scaffolding - The Zone of Proximal Development

THE LEARNER IS UNABLE TO DO YET
INDEPENDENTLY

The Zone of Potential Development

This is achieved by developing mediated learning skills to scaffold the child’s learning and unleash their potential. Our UK based course is a BPS (British Psychological Society) accredited three level training programme. The course will develop your skills, increase your confidence and give you access to all the tools and resources you need to become a dynamic practitioner.  Levels two and three accreditation grants exclusive access to our professional dynamic assessment network. #Rethinklearning

"I would like to thank Fraser and Clare for an excellent two-day training course. I have shared my experience of this course with many colleagues and you have inspired me to consider using DA more often in my work. I aim to continue to build my confidence in the approach in order for me to be able to support adults to think about how children learn best”
