Metacognition and how to create autonomous learners

We are delighted to be able to offer this online workshop, delivered by the author of "How to Create Autonomous Learners", Dr Taryn Moir.  This workshop uses the textbook as a focus to outline the theory, practice and the implementation of evidence-based approaches to develop essential metacognitive and self-study skills with specific reference to working on developing reading competencies. For example, the workshop will include a review of Strategy Instruction Models, and discussion and comparison of packages that combine strategies (e.g., Reciprocal Reading, Collaborative Strategic Reading, Strathclyde Higher Order Reading Skills Approach - SHORS). The workshop explains how to get students, parents and partners on board and how to implement these ideas across a class, school, or consortium.
